In 1991, Ratan Tata succeeded JRD Tata as Chairman of Tata Sons, ushering in an era of unprecedented global expansion. Under his leadership, Tata Group acquired renowned international brands such as Jaguar Land Rover and Tetley Tea, transforming the company into a global powerhouse.
Landmark Achievements
Among Ratan Tata’s numerous achievements, the launch of the Tata Nano in 2008 was particularly significant. The world’s most affordable car became a symbol of innovation and accessibility. That same year, he was honored with India’s second-highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan, for his contributions to industry and society.
Retirement and Legacy
In 2012, Ratan Tata retired as Chairman of Tata Sons but continued to serve as Chairman Emeritus, offering guidance and leadership to the group. His visionary leadership and business acumen left an indelible mark on the global business landscape.
