TMC Leader Arrested in School Recruitment Probe

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Santu Ganguly, a leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) from Behala, in connection with the ongoing school jobs scam in West Bengal. Ganguly, a close associate of former state minister Partha Chatterjee, was taken into custody after hours of questioning at the CBI’s city office.

Arrest Linked to Recruitment Irregularities

Ganguly’s arrest comes after a thorough investigation into irregularities in recruitment processes for state-run primary schools. According to a senior CBI official, there is substantial evidence linking Ganguly to the scam, including proof of his involvement in monetary transactions related to the illegal recruitment practices.

Search Operations and Evidence Seized

Earlier, the CBI conducted searches at Ganguly’s residence in Behala, where they seized several bank-related documents that are believed to be connected to the case. Despite the evidence, Ganguly remained uncooperative during the questioning, prompting the CBI to take him into custody as part of the investigation.

Previous Involvement with Enforcement Directorate

In addition to the CBI’s probe, Ganguly had also been questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which had earlier raided his residence as part of its own investigation into the scam.

Ganguly’s arrest adds to the growing list of individuals under investigation for their role in the alleged corruption linked to the Bengal school jobs scam.
