Uttarakhand Faces IT Shutdown After Cyberattack

A significant cyberattack in Uttarakhand has rendered the state’s entire IT infrastructure inoperative, severely disrupting government operations.

Essential Services Offline

As a result of the attack, crucial government websites and services have gone completely offline. This includes vital platforms such as the CM Helpline, Land Registry, and e-Office, impacting administrative functions statewide.

Administrative Operations Stalled

Government offices have faced operational halts for the second consecutive day, affecting administrative work across the state, including the Secretariat.

Precautionary Measures Taken

In a statement to ANI, Nikita Khandelwal, Director of the Information Technology Development Agency (ITDA), explained, “During scanning on October 2, we discovered that the machine had been compromised by malware. As a precaution, we shut down our data center, leading to the shutdown of all applications, which are currently undergoing scanning.”

Recovery Efforts Underway

Khandelwal noted that after thorough testing, efforts are being made to restore functionality by tomorrow morning. “A total of 186 government websites have been impacted by this cyberattack,” she added.
