The forecast of “heavy rain,” defined as receiving 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rainfall within 24 hours, can lead to dangerous conditions, especially in vulnerable areas. The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) has advised residents in regions prone to landslides, mudslides, and flash floods to move to safer locations following instructions from local authorities.

This kind of rain can cause significant damage, so it’s crucial for those in high-risk areas to remain vigilant, monitor official updates, and follow evacuation orders if issued.

In addition to the warnings about landslides and flash floods, the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority also cautioned residents living near riverbanks and in low-lying areas near dams to be aware of potential risks from rising water levels. Those in these areas are advised to anticipate possible flooding and follow any evacuation or safety instructions provided by the authorities to ensure their safety.

Residents in disaster-prone areas must ensure that camps are set up in their locality and should move to those locations during the daytime. For this, they may contact local bodies and revenue authorities,” it said.
